You're gun breaking in the middle of a firefight would seem more like a glitch than a clever gameplay element.

I agree. I hope this characters is smart enuff to clean and oil their weapons before every battlefield. Hopefully they buy in new stucks of the modern rifles every year, to have them fully working and that they fix up the old rifles to a great finish. Cus, me will play this game like in 3-5 years and i want all rifles be like new, all the time.

i like jamming, because it spices the action, makes u think "holy **** what now". forces improvisation, good sign of an intense game. but it is so uncommon with todays new weapons, it is rather a bit of a stretch with only a few exceptions

I'd be ok with jamming if when the gun stopped working you could beat the shit out of your enemy with it...Goodfellas style. I'd also like Joe Pesci to do the voice of the main character. And if a busboy ever gives you lip about bringing you a drink, you get to shoot off his foot.

If I recall correctly, jamming will not be implemented. If one were to keep one's weapon clean and oiled, jamming should not be a problem. Part of the reason why M16A1's used to jam so much was because no cleaning kits were issued, the soldiers were told it was self-cleaning.

Sean Connery should do the voice acting for everything.

This is an idea I just had while reading IceBallz' post. Would it be possible to turn on a variable that would make your guns age as the game progresses? There could be different settings for just how much it ages. Easy setting, only the finish turns to patina. Medium - hard settings, barrels wear out (decreasing accuracy) and perhaps the gun even stops working. Might be a bit drastic, but looking a gun that was made in 1916 that has perfrect, orginal finish in 2006 (after being used in dozens of conflicts around the world) is a rarity.

Cool idea, but we simply wouldn't have the time to also texture an aged variant for every weapon. The weapon textures take a lot longer than the model to make, as we want them all to look as realistic as possible. Doing this would add significantly to what is already the most time intensive part of creating weapons for Alliance and we do have a lot of guns.

Out of curiosity, have you ever animated? I've never done it, but I have seen the work that guys into it. You need the weapon modeled and textured, then put realisticlly into the hand, then allow for variations of animation, then coordinate how each different hit will make a person react when you hit them.

It's not real easy =/

I"ve tried animation at school (nothing fancy, just some mishapen bird thing having a seizure basically), and I must say, it's not as easy as it looks.

One quick question when your gun gets shot from your hand will you be able to use it or will it be to damaged to operate?

I thought only enemies could get guns shot out of their hands. How annoying would it be to have someone snipe a gun out of your hands over and over..

I dont want guns to be able to be shotten out of peoples hands, I think that it will take away from gameplay. RO has this feature, and it is infuriating when a bullet hits your hand and your gun goes flying in a random direction :(

Then the person who shot you tends to walk up and smack you in the face

Red Orchestra is the best WWII shooter to date.

Maybe most realistic, but far from the best.

CoD:UO is much more entertaining than RO.

In some ways, yes. Base assault is still my all time favorite game type :D
