I'm just wondering what will be involved in making or even editing weapons for Alliance?

Are we going to be digging around in notepad, or learning scripts, or will there be some kind of GUI tool kit ala unreal or The elder scrolls.

The make a new weapon for Alliance you'd first need to create the model. You'd need to create the correct animations for the weapon, define a couple of tag points, and set some graphical options for the model. Finally, you'd define the physical properties of the weapon (from which the weapon physics are drawn), such as the weight, barrel length, etc.

So, most of the options are set with a GUI, and the generic properties are inserted into a table. No scripting will be required.

What if you wanted to convert a gun to new calibre? Say an Enfield to .308 or a Garand to 8mm Mauser? Would it be possible to just change the values of the cartridge and use the same model?

Absolutely. Either changing or adding to a table entry would take care of that.

Now I just need someone to model my Morita!!! (or place a ithaca 37 stake out on a ruger ACC-556). Of course we do need a phased plasma rifle in the 40 watt range.

I think it should be .50 BMG. It may not be possible but it would be awsome to see what the recoil would be.

My project shall be to take an AK-47, and re-chamber it to .338 Lapua.

Then take a UMP, and make it shoot .500 S&W

Yeah, a .50BMG Thompson sounds pretty cool.

Next'll be the .500 S&W Luger and the .700 NE Webley Mk.VI >: D

You guys are thinking much too small. How about a 4 Bore Luger? Better yet, how about a 20mm Ppsh-41?

THAT'S 71 ROUNDS OF 20MM FLYING DEATH!

You just had to go there... :)
That really is a ridiculous amount of flying death to fling around.

Clearly, you're all forgetting the handheld, rapid fire, Schwerer Gustav cannon. The original that most people know of was a prototype that could only be fired on a huge railway carriage, like this

http://www.aopt91.dsl.pipex.com/railgun ... /GUN04.JPG

However, thanks to German engineering, a number of these were produced that could be fired by one soldier, the firs being issued to a man by the name of "Rambo".

These put all of your big guns to shame =)

to make a guns caliber bigger you'd need whole new barrel. which then would change the look of the gun and on some of the guns you people are saying it would basically totally ruin the gun. the guy talking about the m14 it already has some of the worst recoil around. when fireing on full auto after then 3 or 4 shot you might as well use it for a aa gun so making the calibers bigger just means more recoil which means less acc. calibers are selected to be best for the size of the gun
