Soooo... Feanaro, now that you have two S&W revolvers, I'm sure you can lend me the .357 ;)

Have you taken the .357 to the range yet?

I don't lend out anything I am not willing to lose. Sorry.

The .357 has been to the range quite a few times. I shoot an IDPA-lite match with it every monday. It's a sweet gun. I'm taking the Model 10 to the range in an hour or so.

Now, more guns:

If you were in FlorAla and had a lot of girl type friends, I'd consider it. :D I don't like to go farther down Florida than that. Already way, way too heat in 'Bama as it stands.

Girl type friends huh? Does it matter if they were hired and/or had names like Bill or George?

Sadly though I am pretty far down the panhandle, 'bout an hour give or take from Miami. (Usually more, the traffic on I-95 is horrible). Oh yea, it's normally hot here but right now we have rain (horrific lightning) though!

I've never had the courage to go past Orlando. That usually where I start to get lost anyways.

It's always raining in Florida. For five minutes. Then the temp. shoots up into the troposphere.

How long did it take you to build that collection of yours Feanaro?

Btw, I stumbled on this picture yesterday and Im perplexed as to what the guy in the middle is holding.

It looks like a lever action rifle or even a martini-henry or something...

I think these guys are contractors in Iraq for what its worth.

About 5 years. If you stop buying food and just eat leaves, you'll be amazed at how much money you'll save. :D

Thats not an MP5 Arcadia, its a G3. It looks like an MP5 because it is basically the MP5's big brother.

Yes, you can order/buy firearms off the internet, but you have to have a certain license to do so (Damn, I can't remember what its called :()
I dunno how most people get their guns, but all of mine are from gun shows.

Where do you use them? Well, yeah, a shooting range :P You dont have to live next to one to use it Arcadia ;)

Or on private property outside of city limits you could set up targets and blast away at em :D

I wouldn't really say that the MP5 looks anything like the G3...except for the furniture maybe?
And spiff you have to have an FFL or C/R or just buy the gun online and have it shipped to your ffl dealer.

MP5 = Perfect for CQB Uses a 9mm (most of them)
G3 = Battle Rifle Uses .308

So I would say G3 > MP5

If Feanaro does have an 01 FFL, he and I are going to have a long chat about why he hasn't offered his (hopefully best) buddy dealer prices from various wholesalers...

Hell, I can't even view SOG's inventory since they are FFL-exclusive (assholes...).

To be fair, the MP5 has the same selector assembly and pistol grip (for the most part) as the G3. They both operate the same way (roller lock or some business).

Oh, and can't forget the sights. Hate H&K sights (unless they're much different from airsoft replicas).

Ah yes, an FFL. Thats what I was looking for. I keep forgetting that...

Like Der said, the assembly and the inner workings are pretty much the same and look very similar. Thats what I was reffering to.

The rifle in question is a Century Arms CETME. This is something of a misnomer, really. It has an HK-91 receiver(except more out of spec :D), assembled with as many CETME parts as possible. It's mostly the same as an HK-91 but the selector switch is a different shape, the fire controls are reversed(up is fire), different sights, etc.

Arcadia Fades wrote:

I do buy on the internet but it's not quite that easy. You pay for it, then the gun is shipped to a Firearms Dealer, then they transfer it to you. The transfer costs me 20$. I've seen some places charge as much as 40$.

Only in my dreams. I shoot pistols, shotguns, and low-power rifles at the Alabama Training Institute & Pistol Range. I'm currently searching for a place to shoot my rifles. Public rifle ranges within reasonable driving distances are nill. I'm looking at joining the Steel City Shooting Range.

He don't. :D It wouldn't be worth the expense and trouble, plus I don't like to invite government scrutiny into my life.

Similar sights but not quite the same.

They use the roller lock and fluted barrel setup. The older CETME uses that sight (flip) and the HK91 uses the dop. sight. Century Arms blows, well in the earlier days. Did you check the bolt gap and the bolt head? The monkeys didn't smith it right.
