Sorry, I just couldn't help but notice that in HL2, the 9 MM takes forever to kill someone, but the .357 takes em' out, regardless of where you hit them....

The difference is quite a bit... namely 300 more joules in .357 Magnum.

Larger casing holds more powder, heavier bullet has more momentum and sheer size, faster speeds increases momentum, etc...
